Parish Council Purchases New Play Equipment for Staplegrove Rec’

A generous gift has helped fund a new set of wooden play equipment for Staplegrove Rec’, on Manor Road.

The donation was made from the estate of the late Gina and Leslie Hunt who had lived in Staplegrove for over 50 years. The  Agility Trail and three picnic benches have been dedicated to their memory.

In addition to this gift, Staplegrove Parish Council was able to purchase the apparatus with grants from the village hall and Taunton Deane Borough Council.

The equipment replaced a ‘commando bridge’ climbing frame removed in 2011 after failing a safety inspection. It had been installed in 1978, costing £154. Not bad value for a piece that had lasted for over 30 years!

“Having to remove the condemned Commando Frame left the playground looking rather bare,” said Geoffrey Hayes, Chairman of the Parish Council.

“We are therefore delighted to be able to provide a new Agility Trail and three picnic tables thanks to donations from individuals and local organisations.  We are very grateful for this generosity.”

He added, “I would ask all parishioners to help by keeping an eye on the new equipment and report any incidence of misuse or damage.”
